Preparing for installation

Preparation is very important for a successful hardwood flooring project. While you should consult with your Reinhold Flooring flooring specialist for complete instructions, there are a few things that will give you an idea of what your project will involve.

First, you should know that hardwood flooring requires a flat, clean surface for proper installation. To ready the area for your new flooring, you may have to remove your existing flooring. This process will vary. 

You will also need to remove all the furniture from the rooms where your new hardwood is to be installed. A professional moving and storage company can be incredibly useful at this point, especially for large or heavy items. 

During and after installation

An adult member of your household (age 18 or older) should greet the installers and show them to the work area. Get a complete walkthrough of the site and ask any questions. Make sure pets and children stay away from the area until the job is complete.

Once the installation is complete, stay off your new flooring until the stain or varnish has time to fully cure. The installers will be able to offer more insight on this. Finally, if the smell of the varnish bothers you, you should establish good ventilation.
